My colleagues from B Division

I would like to take this forum to remember the following colleagues that I knew and some were friends.

All were killed in a traffic accident on the 28 October 1980 in Belfast.

Vic, that is a huge loss in one accident. Was there any terrorist involvement such as they were en route to an incident when it happened.

They were on route to a call but as things happen in life, they collided with a lorry. There was no direct terrorist involvement and such a stupid loss of life.

We all knew the risks and dangers out there and when there were losses, although angered by them, we accepted it as part of the job. But to lose so many as we did through traffic accidents was very hard to grasp.

They are not forgotten Vic, we had an 18 yearold in Belfast in "71 who survived that tour only to die in an RTA when we were training for upcoming Londonderry tour down near Battle ( was it Lydd ?) but we have not forgotten Rosey, he was 19 when the car hit him, tragic waste but never forgotten.

I have a similer story spanner,not long after we finnished our tour in belfast 78,Jonno, who was in the same brick as me was killed in an RTA on the autobahn comming back off leave.i also served in lurgan with him.he was genuinly a right nice bloke and i think about him a lot,He was from the pottery's, stoke on trent.

Patrick Collins was a friend of mine. We both joined in 63 at the Carlisle Apprentice College and spent 3 years together. I only met him once after. That was a fleeting moment on a bus in Colchester. I always wondered what happened to him. What a sad way to go. RIP old friend.
