    9th September 1971, Captain David Anthony Stewardson (RAOC) known as "Jake" was killed whilst dealing with an IRA device planted outside Castlerobin Orange Hall on Mullaghglass Road, north of Lisburn, County Antrim.Capt Stewardson was the first ATO to be killed during Operation Banner. He was laid to rest at Barnhill Cemetery, Dundee.

          Rest easy Felix. The type of device that took his life was in future called a "Castlerobin" It consisted of anti lifting and anti opening micro switches. In a way, his sacrifice saved the lives of other ATOs as his recorded voice saw the booby trap just before it exploded. As a result, many Castlerobins were neutralised.
          You cannot fight a war with one hand tied behind your back.
