Rest easy mucker.
Tpr Caie was a 19 year old single soldier from Aberdeen. In July 1972, he deployed with B Sqn for a tour of duty in the reconnaissance role near the border with the ROI.
On the afternoon of 24th August 1972, Tpr Caie was the driver of a two man Ferret Scout vehicle on mobile patrol in the Crossmaglen area. At about 1400hrs, as he drove near Moybane, a terrorist bomb was command detonated from a position on a hillside nearby. The blast blew the turret off the vehicle severely wounding the vehicle commander, and the remains of the vehicle was turned upside down and caught fire. Tpr Caie was killed instantly.
