hi i would like to thank everyone for a fantastic day on saturday . myself my husband and my mum we had agreat day .you all do a great job of remembering the fallen including my dad.i cant believe its 47 years since he died. we hope to join in ireland next year xx thank you all again love jill xx

Good to see you all there Jill. You nearly missed the salute but it turned out ok in the end. There are not many who can claim to have been helped on to a saluting dais by a full General .... especially one who later recalled what happened to your dad as he was commanding his own battalion, 1 RGJ in Belfast at that time.

Yes Jill, there is one at the NMA this year. Its to be held on 14th September. The Lisburn, Northern Ireland service is on 17th August.

Cpl ian henry armstrong 29 august1971 .i cant believe its 48 years today we said goodbye to you.i was 11 i waved goodbye never again would i hug or kiss you. You were killed two weeks later.we miss you every day especially mum.but your in our hearts and minds love you always your daughter jill xx xx ps we put some lovely roses on your grave x

I have never forgotten that sad day when the rumours started to filter down to the "tank park" at Gosford, I had only been speaking to Ian a few hours earlier and now he was gone, but I can still see him standing there in his overalls getting ready to depart on a so called safe run delivering a Ferret. Heads should have rolled for sending them out with no radios and limilted ammo, no back-up cover etc, but nothing happened.
