    9th April 1983:Richard Biddle,
    20,
    Married,
Army Catering Corps Att 1st Btn Queen's Regiment.

Private Biddle was was killed in his car outside the Royal Arms Hotel in Omagh by an IRA bomb that had been placed under his car as it was in the hotel car park. The 10lb bomb exploded shortly after midnight as Pvt. Biddle and a colleague were leaving the hotel. His colleague lost a leg and suffered serious injuries. The colleague would have been killed but Pvt. Biddle's car was parked too close to another car and he had to stand aside as Pvt. Biddle reversed out of the parking space. The bomb hurled the car 10 feet into the air reducing it to tangled metal while Pvt. Biddle was thrown about 30 feet along the road.
Both soldiers were based in Lisanelly.
The IRA claimed responsibility for the killing.

              Rest easy.
I have his exact grave location but he is one we haven't got around to doing yet. So if anyone in the Staffordshire area fancies a visit, I can pass on the details.
