                  As an afterthought to this sad event, what happened to the prat who told the young lad to remove the flag, surely an obvious and well known boobytrap, and someone should have known better, another avoidable meaningless death.

                    That's a good question, it would have been investigated at the time and lessons learned no doubt. Three months into a tour, a tragic loss.
