2nd Bn. Ulster Defence Regiment – B Coy
Killed in an IRA bomb attack on Glenane UDR Base.
A lorry packed with 2,500lb of home-made explosives was rolled down a hill into the base. Such was the explosion that it was heard fifty miles away. L/Cpl Robert Crozier and Pte. Sydney Hamilton were also killed in this explosion, and these three Soldiers had accumulated a total of more than fifty years Service in the Regiment. He was married with four children and was on duty at the time of his murder.
