  • Gunner Keith Bates

    From Ken Wharton

Gunner Keith Bates was only 20 when he died on 4 November, 1974, following an earlier tragic accident in Belfast’s city centre. He was from Shipley, in West Yorkshire and, although his name appears on the Wall at the AFM in Staffordshire, he does not appear in the ‘official’ roll of honour. I am pleased to rectify that oversight in this book’s ROH.

We will remember them, we had a lad, Rosie, Gnr Rose, 18 when we were in Belfast in '71, killed in '72 in an RTA, when we were training for Derry, he was 19 and also does not qualify for the ROH but not forgotten.
