  • Robert George Roberts

    1948 - 2008

George was killed in a tragic road accident on 3rd January 2008.
Given his extensive service record it is truly ironic that he met his end this way.
George worked in Northern Ireland from the early 1970s and into the 1980s with a number of Special Forces units, and saw service in Oman, Afghanistan and Cyprus.
He was the son of a soldier – his father Sgt Douglas Roberts served in the Second World War with the Chindits.
Originally from Edinburgh, George was cremated on the Isle of Man. His final wish was for his ashes to be scattered at Douglas Head on the island, as was his father’s before him.
His name will be added to the local Book Of Remembrance.
He will be sadly missed by his friends and family.

‘Farewell a soldier and friend, but not forgotten’.
Another name on the clock tower. Rest easy.
