Samuel G. Armour, 37, married with three children,
Constable, RUC Reserve / timber sales rep

Sammy Armour was leaving his home near the Curragh Road, between Maghera and Gulladuff, Co. L'Derry, to go to his work. As he went to drive away a device placed under the front wheel arch was triggered by a length of fishing line tied to the wheel.

The device exploded killing Sammy instantly.
All the house windows were blown in, showering his family with glass. Luckily they had only to be treated for shock.
Normally his children would have also been in the car, but were not due to the school holidays.
    ------------------------------------------------

Sammy lived close to my wife's family at the time.
My apologies for nearly missing this loss.
    Rest easy, comrade.
