Dvr Ronald Kitchen, 20, RCT att 2 LI

                11th November 1972

"Dvr Kitchen died after being shot by an IRA sniper on the Oldpark Road, Belfast.

The gunman had gained entry to a derelict house on the Oldpark Road and removed a brick from a wall, giving him a view down the road. One shot was fired from an Armalite, which struck Dvr Kitchen who was on duty at a vcp at the time.

A follow-up search discovered an empty casing at the firing point, and a ladder set against the back of the house allowing the gunman to escape.

Dvr Kitchen died on the way to hospital."

                (excerpt from 'Lost Lives')

'All gave some; and some gave all'.

                Rest easy, comrade.

                  We will remember them.

I was in Belfast at the time, it was a sad loss to lose a Corps member.
