Ex-soldier Mike finally gets off the treadmill

A former soldier has run into the record books by smashing a world treadmill record.
Mike Buss now has the record for the longest distance covered on a treadmill in seven days - 517.25 miles - breaking the previous record of 468 miles.

Mr Buss, 35, ran the equivalent of three marathons a day at Swindon's Brunel Shopping Centre, with only two hours' sleep a day and brief food and massage breaks.
The former Army physical training instructor burned 11,000 calories a day and lost 8lb during the week, as well as two toenails.
Mr Buss, from Highworth, Swindon, ran between 3.7 and six miles an hour during the week.
He was raising money for charity Help For Heroes, which assists injured British servicemen and their families, and was supported by soldiers from 29 Regiment Royal Logistics Corps, based at South Cerney, Gloucestershire, who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

After finishing his challenge yesterday, Mr Buss said: 'I'm going home to have a bath, beef stew for dinner, and to chill out.
'I was looking at hitting the 500-mile mark, so to go 17 miles further is brilliant. My legs are aching and the arches of my feet are painful, but I feel good.

'The guys from 29 Regiment really motivated me.'
